Stones Throw Records is seeking a full time Audience Development Manager, based in our Los Angeles office. This role focuses on identifying, engaging and building our artists’ fanbases.
This position will work closely with the marketing team, Social Media Manager and DSP Partnerships Manager, offering both support and new ideas. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing experience, work collaboratively, and help shape the success of our artists on both established and emerging platforms.
It is essential that candidates have a good grasp of the streaming landscape;demonstrable experience working with a range of social media platforms, emerging trends, and creators;and excellent interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the label’s voice, ethos, fan base and our artists’ music is crucial.

Stones Throw Records is an independent record label founded in 1996 by DJ Peanut Butter Wolf with offices in Los Angeles and London. Known for a richly diverse roster, its past touchstone releases include albums by Madvillain, J Dilla, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk, and Aloe Blacc. The current roster includes artists such as Sudan Archives, Mild High Club, Knxwledge, Mndsgn, Benny Sings, NxWorries (Anderson. Paak & Knxwledge), Automatic, Jerry Paper, John Carroll Kirby, Kiefer, and Los Retros.
Responsibilities:
- Help our artists build their fan outreach on both established and emerging social media and community platforms, tailored to the artist.
- Build and maintain our database of influencers and creators and oversee outreach to music and lifestyle creators.
- Proactively monitor and stay on top of trends with a view to ensuring our artists are maintaining a relevant, engaging profile online.
- Review social and DSP analytics to present to the wider team with noteworthy data points.
- Review analytics and ROI on digital advertising.
- Lead on YouTube responsibilities, from uploading and Community posting to channel optimisation, ads booking and CMS pitching.
- Work with the Social Media Manager to build on our digital ad strategy, and help with booking & reporting on ads.
- Work with the DSP Partnerships Manager on some day-to-day pitching and collaborate on creative ideas for DSP pitching around tentpole events.
- Create some digital assets for advertising.
- Identify emerging trends to factor into marketing campaigns.
- Ensure catalogue spikes or viral moments are addressed in a timely manner.
- Identify audiences in lesser-served territories and commission translated / localized assets, where appropriate.
- Collaborate with external partners for larger scale creator campaigns.
- Help our artists with content creation/editing and advise where needed.
- Continually improve internal resources on best practices and share regularly with the wider team.
- Attend gigs and relevant industry events.
Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years professional experience in music industry with focus on digital marketing, social media and streaming preferred.
- Experience with YouTube Content Management System. YouTube Certification is a plus.
- Intimate knowledge of emerging and established social media platforms.
- A strong network of relationships with creators, agencies and influencers.
- Knowledge of analytic tools available and ability to pull and clearly communicate insights from available data.
- Experience working within a range of budgets and ability to deliver value for money when working with limited budgets.
- Design and editing skills for asset creation, e.g. Photoshop.
- A can-do, collaborative attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to thrive in high-paced work environment, multi-task and prioritize.
- Demonstrable passion for and knowledge of Stones Throw’s music – both catalogue and current roster.
- Must independently and effectively manage multiple, concurrent projects and deadlines without compromising quality.
- Education: College Degree Required
Compensation & Benefits:
$50-70k salary (dependent on experience) plus health benefits, 401K matching, PTO, paid holidays (including December 24 to January 1), and other benefits.
