Business Development & Partner Integration Specialist (North America)

DistroDirect

Position Summary
The Business Development & Partner Integration Specialist is responsible for managing inbound and referral-based partner opportunities from initial qualification through to contract execution and onboarding. This role focuses on evaluating prospective partners using defined assessment criteria, communicating our platform’s value proposition, and ensuring a seamless transition from sales to activation.

The successful candidate will combine relationship management and commercial acumen with a strong technical understanding of digital music distribution. They will confidently lead product demonstrations, discuss platform capabilities and partner workflows, and articulate key offerings across distribution, YouTube MCN, music publishing, and marketing services.

In addition, this role oversees a small group of scouts located in North America who generate qualified leads, ensuring a steady and high-quality pipeline of prospective partners. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Specialist plays a key role in driving growth and ensuring our partners’ early success on the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Qualification & Sales Pipeline

  • Conduct discovery calls and platform demonstrations, clearly articulating technical features and value.
  • Manage the full sales process — from initial contact through to agreement signature and onboarding initiation.
  • Work closely with regional and global partnership teams and the Chief Commercial Officer to assess lead suitability, prioritise opportunities, and align on strategic partner targets.
  • Develop and maintain accurate pipeline reporting within CRM, ensuring visibility for leadership and related teams.

Partner Onboarding & Integration
  • Serve as the primary contact during the onboarding phase, ensuring partners are technically and operationally ready to launch.
  • Liaise with internal teams to coordinate data imports, DSP setup, YouTube MCN linkage, and publishing registration.
  • Provide tailored onboarding sessions, addressing each partner’s operational model and business objectives.
  • Ensure partners meet onboarding timelines, documentation requirements, and compliance standards.

A&R Management
  • Lead and mentor A&R scouts responsible for sourcing and referring qualified partner leads.
  • Work with Chief Commercial Officer to source and recruit new scouts to support the business development pipeline.
  • Identify and work within defined target genres to cultivate relationships and develop networks that generate high-quality leads.
  • Establish clear scouting criteria, communication protocols, and incentive structures.
  • Review scout performance and provide regular feedback to optimise conversion quality.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Maintain close communication with Product, Partner Services, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment between sales promises and service delivery.
  • Provide structured feedback on partner needs, feature requests, and market trends.
  • Provide relevant new partner information for department and all staff briefings to build internal team knowledge about key partners.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences where applicable.

Skills & Qualifications
  • 2–4 years’ experience in music distribution, digital rights management, or business development within the music or media industry.
  • Strong understanding of music distribution systems, DSP operations, YouTube MCN, music publishing, and related digital infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline from qualification to close.
  • Confident communicator and presenter, capable of conducting technical product demonstrations.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple concurrent deals and relationships.
  • Proficient in CRM (HubSpot, Monday.com, or similar) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to interpret partner data and use it to inform business decisions.
  • Passion for independent music, partner success, and digital innovation.
