General Manager - North America

IDOL is a fully independent digital distributor founded in 2006 with offices in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, and Johannesburg. Following a highly selective approach, IDOL offers a high level of marketing resources and personalized attention to its partners.

Constantly expanding, the company now counts 70+ people and offers full worldwide digital distribution services to labels such as Mexican Summer, City Slang, Erased Tapes, Fire Records, Gondwana Records, Glitterbeat, Le Plan, Soundway, as well as artists like Four Tet, Daphni, L’imperatrice, TOKiMONSTA, La Femme, Erick the Architect and more.

Additionally, IDOL offers a range of other services including Audience Development, Rights Management, International Coordination and Physical Distribution.

In parallel, through its technology subsidiary IDOL Tech, IDOL markets its Labelcamp distribution application. The Labelcamp platform is used by prestigious music companies worldwide, such as [PIAS], Because, ROM, Ditto or Kompakt.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a new General Manager to look after the expansion of our operations in North America. The ideal candidate is an experienced and passionate leader with an extensive knowledge of the US independent music sector, combined with a substantial experience and network within it.

You will lead a team split between our New York and LA offices and develop the US staff count according to the activity growth. The preferred location for this position is New York.

• Sales: Seek out and sign new catalogues in line with IDOL’s selective policy;• General management: Manage and structure the offices. Co-supervise our local staff and support the general activities of the company on the market;• Local representation: Represent the company at industry events and meet with our partners;• Vision & strategy: Work in close relationship with the other offices of the group to maximize our value proposition and marketing services.

• min 10 years leadership experience in the US music sector with extensive knowledge of its digital ecosystem (labels, digital services etc..)
• Excellent network within the US independent players (labels, management companies, law firms…)
• Proven business development track record
• Proven people management experience

• Strong entrepreneurial approach, result driven
• Excellent communication skills and capacity to work effectively with management and cross-functional teams
• Strong leadership skills with capacity to develop talents
• Curious & research led
• Passionate about independent music and its culture

Education: Bachelor & higher OR relevant substantial work experience.                                                            

TERMS

• Indefinite Permanent Contract

• Salary: NYC $140K-$160K
