JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS
Transgressive is an independent record label, publisher and management company based in London and New York.
The Transgressive UK team is responsible for all UK and international marketing and promotions efforts outside of North America.
The role in question is for maternity leave cover for an existing member of staff, and the job will feature an overlap period with the existing staff member and the new candidate.
The dates for the role are: APRIL 2025-DECEMBER 2025 (9 months inclusive).
This role offers a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for music, as well as for innovative and creative international marketing & promotions strategies, to work across a range of globally focused artist projects.
In all cases the Senior International Marketing Manager will be working closely and collaboratively with the rest of the Transgressive Marketing team in the UK and US, as well as the relevant distributors, to help lead and shape international campaigns.
Essential to each artist campaign will be the following:
- artist by artist / release by release campaign planning documentation – including targets, initial budgets, etc. (in accordance with the rest of the marketing team and CEOs) for internal and external purposes
- regular collation of results and reporting on artist by an artist by artist / release by release basis
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and execution across the following elements (not limited to):
- Senior and day to day oversight of the International department of Transgressive, reporting directly to the Joint CEOs of Transgressive
- Management of multiple artist release and marketing campaigns in territories outside of the UK and North America, ensuring dynamic and exemplary coordination and performance across publicity, marketing, airplay, live, retail, digital, plus new and progressive business or marketing opportunities, in direct correspondence with the artists, their managers/respective teams and the CEOs
- Oversight, appointment and management of approved outside stakeholders/team members (e.g. publicity teams, ad/media buying, etc.)
- Devising strategies for catalogue on occasion (for example, significant anniversaries, or tour / live moments)
- Management and input into approved campaign and project costs, including oversight of marketing budgets, production costs and relevant overheads, in accordance with the company’s business strategy, planning and assigned budgets, working closely with other team-members to aim towards profitability
- Coordination and representation – attendance across priority shows, artist and team meetings, and promo schedules as and when appropriate
- Assembly and cultivation of key relationships with external stakeholders and team members, including distributors
- Overall steer, direction and inspiration for the short to long term strategy and growth of Transgressive’s new International operations, demonstrating a self-starter, problem-solving spirit to getting results
COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIPS
- Maintain close relationships with US/UK project leads and the label team, our distributor and external marketing and promotions teams around the world, to execute marketing strategies effectively on a global scale
- Act as primary communication liaison between artist/manager, label team, and relevant external partners for all things international
- Work with our distributors to ensure all projects are prioritised and fully supported via their international teams, and proactively helping to fill gaps where spotted
- Provide regular reporting and in-depth analysis (as well as retrospectives on marketing initiatives) to inform and guide campaign strategy and monitor growth, goals, and trends
STRATEGIC PLANNING & MARKETING
- Identify international opportunities, adapt and develop campaigns/tools/assets for local audiences while prioritising brand consistency and audience growth, engagement, and consumption
- Develop project budgets in conjunction with US/UK project leads and marketing team/CEOs, managing and maximising spend while ensuring fiscal responsibility
- Support US/UK project leads on international sales and physical production & distribution, working with our distributor to ensure accuracy of international forecasts and delivery of product
- Manage digital advertising strategy, overseeing campaign execution and results with relevant external digital agencies in consultation with internal US/UK project leads and digital team
PROMOTIONS MANAGEMENT
- Build and regularly refresh database of International contacts across multiple sectors (including but not limited to: print and online media titles; radio; TV; DSPs or priority digital platforms; priority retail outlets; advertising opportunities, etc.)
- Establish and implement international press and radio strategies in line with marketing objectives, hiring and managing local press and radio teams when needed
- Manage artists’ international schedules as it relates to promotions, oversee artist travel booking with the help of the Marketing Assistant, accompanying artists on priority international promotional trips (on occasion)
COLLABORATION & DISCOVERY
- Collaborate closely with teams and distributors to drive international strategy across campaigns with key partners including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, Deezer, etc. and beyond
- Identify value-added marketing initiatives by seeking out new business opportunities that support the release strategy, including advertising, creative partnerships, and new technologies/platforms on both a global and/or niche/localised level as required
CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
- Drive, persistence and accountability on getting campaigns delivered – a problem-flagging and problem-solving attitude is essential
- Able to work clearly and efficiently to brief, set budgets, deadlines and work as strongly on assigned solo tasks as they do within the context of a team
- Culturally aware, commercially attuned and creatively engaged, with an ability to conceive and develop ideas true to both the artists’ and company’s values / brands
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience and an ability to communicate supportively and harmoniously with artists is central to the role, likewise maintaining confidentiality and a delicate manner in handling personal and sensitive matters
- 5+ years of marketing and promotion experience within a record label – international marketing experience essential
- Measurable success in delivering international marketing campaigns for new and established artists
- Strong knowledge of international music markets, media outlets and radio
- Extensive network of international contacts
- Solid experience working across all digital aspects of modern marketing campaigns
- Excellent writing and communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to represent company brand
- Passion for the roster, a relentless pursuit for artist development, team oriented, and a self-starter are all essential for this position
SALARY / EMPLOYMENT TERM
- Salary – negotiable / reflective of experience
- 9-month employment term (April-December 2025)
N.B. There will be a three-month probationary period prior to remaining 6 months.
LOCATION
The role will involve office and remote working (in London office).
Travel will occur regularly as part of the role, relating to performances, promo schedules and key meetings.
