JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Transgressive is an independent record label, publisher and management company based in London and New York.

Transgressive seeks an impassioned, experienced and highly organised person to join our team as Sync & Licensing Manager.

The candidate will be responsible for the management of licensing across all media for the world working directly on behalf of Transgressive, additionally collaborating with existing partners at distributors and publishing entities to mutually strategise and jointly support efforts.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and execution across the following elements (not limited to):

  • Proactively pitching and creating placement opportunities from the contemporary roster and catalogue of Transgressive
  • Creating and managing new internal systems relating to catalogue pitching and deal tracking across the roster
  • Procuring and negotiating sync deal terms/fees, drafting license agreements and obtaining final signatures from all contractual parties
  • Seeking and actively pitching for brand partnerships for the label and represented artists
  • On occasion collaborating with senior team and legal teams on any prospective amendments to license agreements
  • Managing and keeping track of any / all license requests and regularly updating internal databases and overseeing expiration dates
  • Coordinating with partners in various territories worldwide on license fees and approvals
  • Coordinating invoicing and payment for license fees
  • Reporting on pending and confirmed deals internally
  • Drafting licensing reports and creating license reports for artists/writers as and when required
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships internationally with artists, managers, music supervisors and other potential sync clients, lawyers, writers, etc.
  • Creating / building new business opportunities to contribute to the worldwide exploitation of
  • Transgressive’s catalogue – including any wider spin-off opportunities with brands or agencies
  • Managing inbound license requests from the company website / social media, and replying to relevant enquiries
  • Providing approximate quotes to clients across all verticals – film, TV, advertisement, games, trailers, plus any other areas – as and when required
  • Managing the approvals process from relevant artist/writer approval parties
  • Attending shows, creating/overseeing any sync and networking events

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Drive, persistence and accountability on getting syncs delivered to deadline – a problem-flagging and problem-solving attitude is essential
  • 3+ years of experience in an international sync licensing role
  • Knowledge and awareness of international sync market and associated deal values
  • Extensive network of international contacts
  • Measurable track record success in delivering international syncs for new and established artists
  • Excellent negotiation and deal-closing skills
  • Excellent knowledge and grasp of master / publishing copyright terms
  • Able to work with appropriate software materials (Excel, etc.) and to visualising results
  • Rich experience with record labels / publishers and their respective departments
  • Able to work as strongly solo as they do within the context of a team and with partners
  • Ability to manage and multi-task across multiple deals and opportunities without losing track
  • Culturally aware, commercially attuned and creatively engaged, with an ability to conceive and develop ideas/solutions/opportunities true to both the artists’ and company’s values / brands
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience and an ability to communicate supportively and harmoniously with artists is central to the role, likewise maintaining confidentiality and a delicate manner in handling personal and sensitive matters
  • Excellent writing, organisational and communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to represent company brand
  • Passion for the roster, team oriented, and a self-starter are all essential for this position

SALARY / EMPLOYMENT TERM
  • Salary – negotiable / reflective of experience

N.B. There will be a three-month probationary period.

LOCATION
The role will involve office and remote working – depending on the candidate, we are potentially open to where the person is based.

Travel will occur regularly as part of the role, relating to performances, presentations and key meetings.
