Secretly Group seeks Social Media Coordinator for Brooklyn, NY, Bloomington, IN or Los Angeles, CA office
Secretly Group is a leading independently owned music company. Secretly's major divisions include record labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian, as well Secretly Publishing. Secretly Group is headquartered in Bloomington, IN, with offices in Brooklyn, London, Los Angeles, Austin, and additional staff in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and beyond.
Secretly Canadian was founded in 1996 by Ben Swanson, Chris Swanson, and others. Whitney, Anohni, and serpentwithfeet count amongst its roster, as well as the catalogues of Jason Molina, Yoko Ono, and the recordings of comedian Tig Notaro. Darius Van Arman founded Jagjaguwar in 1996, then merged operations with Secretly Canadian in 1999. The label's present roster includes Grammy-winner Bon Iver, Angel Olsen, Moses Sumney, Jamila Woods, and Sharon Van Etten. Dead Oceans was created 2007 by the owners of Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian along with Austin-based Phil Waldorf. It is the current home to Mitski, Kevin Morby, Phoebe Bridgers, Khruangbin, and Slowdive. Secretly Publishing was born in 2011, and now represents several writers from Secretly Group master artists and many others, such as Jay Som, Kishi Bashi, Beach Fossils, Mt Joy, and Frankie Cosmos.
The Social Media Coordinator will run social media accounts for Dead Oceans and Secretly Canadian, and will work on social media campaign execution across Secretly Group labels: Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian. This person will work within the marketing department on all facets of social media, content development, analysis and reporting, and will work closely with Project and Marketing teams on social media projects for and about our rosters of artists. This position reports the US Marketing Director. This role is a full time position in our marketing department. This role can be based in our Bloomington, IN, Brooklyn, NY, or Los Angeles, CA, office.
Responsibilities will include:
Run day to day social media for Dead Oceans and Secretly Canadian social channels
Manage assets and launch plans across Secretly Group labels
Develop emerging social media opportunities including new platforms, unique partnerships, promotions with services and more
Create social assets such as clips, gifs, vertical video clips; work with Marketing, Art and Project teams on original content
Offer consultancy and best practices to artists and their teams w/r/t their own accounts + direct marketing/newsletters
Curate, write, schedule Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian monthly newsletters; track stats + metrics for newsletters
Run analyses and report on performance of label social channels; work with Marketing Dept. to set and evolve goals for this data
Develop and maintain unique franchises on label social media channels
The ideal candidate will have:
Fluency across social media platforms
A bright, compelling writing style with impeccable attention to detail
1+ years’ background in the music industry (academic/internship OK)
Active interest in emerging technologies and social media platforms – especially as they relate to the music industry
A passion independent music across a variety of genres
Excellent attention to detail
Adaptable to fast paced environment with multiple competing deadlines
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is desirable
