In 2016 Louis Daniels Connection an artist management and development company incorporated in 2013, introduced its dba record label upon securing a key placement/premiere on Billboard for its first album release. In 2017 after securing a distribution deal with EMPIRE 1990* Records®, a member of RIAA, made it official debut as an registered indie record label. In 2019 1990 Records was invited and became a member of the American Association of Independent Music (A2iM) 1990 Records** is a Brooklyn-based independent boutique label dedicated to curating and sharing cutting edge, genre-bending music from local artists. Like it's predecessor Roc-a-fella Records, starting the label as a platform to market and promote music products, was a decision based on the political and exploitive nature of the music business. Launching the platform as a female headed and co-owned business that intertwine seasoned, disciplined business acumen, and marketing savvy with fresh new ideas, 1990 Records® plan to cement its sustainability in response to the changing landscape of the music industry. Plans for the label include building its own Brooklyn-based recording studio and podcast station in 2020. **In May 1990 for the first time in its history, the US singles chart was dominated by women.
