Brassland is artist-operated and was started in 2001 by Alec Hanley Bemis and twin brothers/musicians Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner, both best known for their work with The National. Brassland encourages collaboration and creation among an evolving assortment of creative folks. We like artists who are community-minded and possess that elusive tonic of personality. We are not governed by fashion & cool, though don't mind if our artists are considered cool, or come into fashion.
